Patricia Ann Singletary, age 83, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023.
A native of Plaquemines Parish, she was a lifelong resident of Slidell and retired from National Foods of Slidell, where she served as a union representative.
Bryant Daniel “Danny” Penton, age 71, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023.
He grew up in Bush and Mandeville, graduating from Mandeville High and was a former resident of Slidell. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in combat in Vietnam, and earned several medals for bravery before coming home and working for the Slidell Police Department as an undercover narcotics agent and offer.
He also worked for the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office for 10 years, achieving the rank of sergeant, while working for the SWAT and Water Recovery Diving Teams. He earned the VA-OIG award for bravery for stopping an armed veteran at the VA facility.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a lifelong lover of animals.
Rosemary Hendricks McManus, age 71, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
A 55-year resident of Slidell and longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and then at St. Luke, she was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing.
Peggy Lillian Lowe, age 70, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
She grew up in Slidell, graduating from Slidell High in 1971 before earning an elementary education degree at Southeastern. She taught at Alton Elementary, then later St. Margaret Mary, stating that her love was preparing the children for the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Holy Eucharist.
She was a faithful member of St. Margaret Mary Church, participating in weekly adoration in the chapel.
Georgie M. Carr Guidry, age 92, of Lacombe, LA, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
Born and raised in Slidell, she attended Slidell High and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, finishing with the first graduating class of physical therapy at Charity Hospital.
She worked for Ochsner and MediCenter in Slidell and served patients for over 50 years.
She was also an avid horsewoman, riding and raising Paso Fino horses.
Barbara Jopes Garrett, age 90, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023.
A native and lifelong resident of Slidell, she was an employee for the city of Slidell for over 21 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Slidell.
Judy Irene Boland, age 75, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
A longtime resident of Slidell and Pearl River, she was born in Mobile, AL, and grew up in Memphis, MO.
She moved to Slidell in 1969 and received a registered nurse degree from Nicholls State, then worked at the VA Hospital in New Orleans.
She was an avid sports fan, especially NASCAR, Cardinals baseball and both college and pro football, especially cheering for LSU and the Saints. She also enjoyed camping, casinos, playing cards and traveling.

Betty Rush Shadrick Hedin, age 82, of Pearl River, LA, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
Born in Medford, WI, she was employed as head bookkeeper of Methodist Hospital in New Orleans and attended Good Shepard Lutheran Church, playing a key role in the creation of the memorial rock garden.
She enjoyed gardening and belonged to several different gardening clubs.
Artemese Nelly Rushing, age 80, of Pearl River, LA, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
A native of Bogalusa, LA, she was a mail career who enjoyed listening to music and gardening during her spare time.
