Dennis “DJ” Wayne Swedberg Jr., of Pearl River, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015.
He was 24 years old.
He is survived by his son on the way, Dennis Wayne Swedberg III; parents, Sandra and Dennis Swedberg Sr.; fiancé, Kayla Schoumbrecht; step-daughter, Karmyn Yencho; sisters, Bobbie Swedberg and Nycole Swedberg Smith; brother, Dylan Swedberg; and grandmother, Louise Davis.
Swedberg is also survived by aunts and uncles, Daryl and Debbie Singletary and Glen and Judy Payne; and cousins, Christina Payne, Tyler Payne, Cassie Singletary, and Emily Singletary.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy Alsobrook, Donald and Dorothy Swedberg.
Family and friends are invited to attend the services at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, located at 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River, with visitation taking place on Friday, Jan. 16 from 5 until 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 12 p.m. with visitation from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Interment will follow at Austin Cemetery also located in Pearl River.

Mattye Foster Alderman passed away in her home on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015.
She was the daughter of Elijah Coleman and Clara Perkins Foster of Port Gibson, Ms.; and wife of Howard Alderman, who she was married to for almost 60 years.
Alderman was proceeded in death by their son, Lee; and grandson, Robert Burge.
She is survived by children, Wendy Shaffette (Ronnie) of Carriere, Ms., Patricia Burge (Bobby, deceased) of Carriere, Ms., Bonnie Holland (Randy) of Picayune, Ms., and Alan Alderman (Regina) of Diamondhead, Ms.
She was the grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by sisters, Alice Alderman of Vicksburg, Ms. and Bettye Anne Lazenby of Petal, Ms. Preceeding her in death are siblings, William (Bubba) Foster, Clara Rose Cox, Haroldene Hudson, and Elijah (Red) Foster.
Alderman’s career as an ER nurse spanned greater than 30 years. She worked at Crosby Memorial Hospital, Vicksburg Hospital and Slidell Memorial Hospital.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Picayune, Ms.
There will be a brief visitation prior to mass at 9:30 a.m.

James P. ‘Jim’ Baillie passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, in Slidell.
He was 76 years old.
Baillie was born on March 3, 1938, in Liverpool, England to Richard and Margaret Baillie.
After having served as a paratrooper in the Royal Air Force, he traveled the world working in construction as an electrician. He met and married Cheryl Balash in Detroit, MI in 1968. The couple had three sons and settled in Slidell in 1978.
Baillie retired from Maersk in 2003. After the passing of Cheryl in 2001, he met and married Mary Najolia in 2004. Together they have five children and seven grandchildren.
Baillie is survived by his wife, Mary Najolia Baillie; sons, Brian and spouse Jamie; son, Kevin and spouse Theresa; and granddaughters, Sophia and Gabbie; son, Steven; step-children, Tracie Carter and Joey Najolia and spouse Brandi; and sisters, Maureen Jursa, Maggie Baillie and Phyllis Spencer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Margaret Baillie; brother, Richie Baillie; sister, Linda Baillie Woodward; and wife, Cheryl Balash Baillie.
A memorial gathering was held on Jan. 9 at St. Margaret Mary Church, located at 1050 Robert Blvd. in Slidell.

Cecil Hayden Simmons II “Bo” passed away it on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015.
He was 34 years old.
He is survived by his daughters, Hanna Theresa Simmons and Hailey Cheyenne Simmons; parents, Donald and Peggy Simmons; brothers, CWO James H Simmons and Harley J. Simmons; the mother of his children, Michelle Simmons; step-brothers, Scotty Lee Welch, Nicholas Welch and Christopher Cook; step-sister, Jenny Ann Welch; grandmother, Jennie Lee Franks.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Thigpen Simmons and the late Cecil and Grayce Simmons.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 15 from 5 to 9 p.m. from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41. Pearl River, La.

Emanuel A. Bourgeois Sr., of Slidell, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014.
He was 90 years old.
He was the husband the late Claire Marie Jeanfreau Bourgeois; father of Emanuel A.Bourgeois and wife, Pat; Louis E. Bourgeois and wife, Margaret; Clyde J. Bourgeois, and late wife Diane; Gerry M. Bourgeois and wife, Elaine and the late Wayne Bourgeois; son of the late Edmond Simon Bourgeois and Ethel Young Bourgeois; and brother of Francis, Raymond, Leo, Ethel Eve, Doris, Mary Rita, Lucille and the late: Joseph and Anthony.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was the longtime owner of Busy Bee Auto Repair and retired from Textron Marine.
A funeral Mass was held on Jan. 5 at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell.

Nolan J. Lefort passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014.
He was 68 years old.
Lefort’s mother, Mrs. Ophelia, gave Lefort her love of the arts and shared it with his sisters and brother, Wanda Curole, Donna Lefort and John Lefort.
After a successful career as a science teacher, Lefort returned to school to obtain a Master of Education degree with an emphasis on visual arts. His artwork is in homes and collections across the country.
A celebration of Lefort’s life was held on Jan. 10 at the First United Methodist Church in Slidell.

Coralie Serio Babineaux, of Slidell, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015.
She was 85 years old.
She was the mother of Carolyn P. Brindell (Jack), Maria P. Kain (Raymond), Rosanne P. Rinker (Zack), Donna P. Leitz (Irwin), Dolores P. Catanese (Robert); and Teresa P. Stanford (Sal); daughter of the late Anthony Francis and Ethel May Serio; and sister of Catherine Lambert, Mary Gean Anderson, Patricia Matthews, and Eunice Serio.
She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Carrie E. Kain.
A native of New Orleans, and was a resident of Slidell for the past 35 years. She was a member of the Bellsouth Pioneers Club.

Delores “Bit” Levell McGehee, of Pearl River, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015.
She was 71 years old.
She is survived by children, Toni Michelle McGehee (James), Dianne Craddock, Michael McGehee (Sharan) and George McGehee; grandchildren, Aaron McGehee, JoANNA Henley, Jessica Henley, Avery Craddock, and Jett Anthony; and great-grandchildren, Aaron McGehee, Natalynn McGehee, and Adysen McGehee.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 9 at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, located at 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River.

Mary Ann Mansfield Lee passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, after a long battle with COPD.
She was 60 years old.
Lee was born to Margaret and Russell Mansfield on December 29, 1954, in New Orleans.
She is survived by children, Anthony, Rebecca and Russell; step-children, Johnnie, Jason and Josette; grandchildren, Hope, Alexis, Tyler, Erika, Katelynn, Claire, Gemma and Caden; siblings, Katherine, Charles, Margaret and John; and Aunt Rosemary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Lee Jr.; and brother, Tommy Mansfield.
She was a former employee of Front Street Donuts and Walmart.
A celebration of her life was held on Jan. 7 at Grace Memorial Baptist Church, in Slidell.

David Fabich, TSGT, USAF/RET., born April 27, 1935, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, in Slidell.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Szelmeczka Fabich.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, Stanley and Anna Adamski Fabich; and granddaughter, Bridget.
He is the father of Caren Morgan, Cathleen Fabich, Jeanne Weingart, Laura White, Mary Ann Fabich, David Fabich, Jr and Daniel Fabich.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and one and a half great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held on Jan. 7 at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Road, Slidell.

Helen “Bunny” Goff Marcussen, retired Ordained Minister at First United Methodist Church in Slidell, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, in Colorado Springs, CO.
She was 91 years old.
She was born in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of the late Mortimer Goff and C. Lara Van Auken.
She graduated from Hope College with a degree in psychology. Then she continued her education with a Masters in Education from McNeese State, a Masters of Christian Education from Emory University and finally a Masters of Theology from Southern Methodist University. She was the first woman to hold the position of Ordained Minister of a large congregation in Slidell. She served as a psychiatric social worker, an advisor for the Young Women’s Christian Association, an English teacher and a high school counselor.
She remarried late in life (near 60) to Charley “Chuck” Marcussen Sr. They were married for nearly 30 years before he preceded her in death in 2012. At Charley’s passing she moved to Colorado to be near her son and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Charles A. “Cappy” Ploegsma (Patricia McIntosh); step-son, Charley Marcussen Jr. (Jackie Dabdoub); grandmother of Angela Roy Jenson (Jake Jenson, Christopher Alan Ploegsma, Celeste Marcussen Hart (Craig Hart); great-grandmother to Maya Thompson, Credence Ploegsma, Purity Ploegsma, Alexis Hart, Will Hart, and Beau Hart; and grandson, Damon Marcussen preceded her in death.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, Charles Goff, Laura Goff, Harold Goff and Edith Goff, all of New York and Connecticut.
A memorial service was held on Jan. 12 at First United Methodist Church, 433 Erlanger Drive, in Slidell.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Gentiva Hospice Foundation at gentivahospicefoundation.org, or the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Tammany Humane Society in Slidell.
Her cremated remains will be interred alongside Charley at the new Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Road, Slidell, LA.
