SALLY JO LAWRENCE BURSON
Sally Jo Lawrence Burson, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on March 10, 2023 at the age of 84. She was a native of Lumberton, Mississippi, born on January 30, 1939 to her loving parents, the late Audrey Lawson Lawrence and James “Ernie” Lawrence. Sally is survived by her loving husband of almost 63 years Marlon Lloyd Burson. She is the cherished mother of Marla Burson Hardin (Anthony Scott Hardin) and Michael Lawrence Burson (Elizabeth Fitzmorris Burson); proud grandmother of Christopher Michael Burson and James Cade Burson; and caring sister of James “Jimmy” Ernest Lawrence Jr. (Martha Lawrence). She also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends whom she loved dearly.
Sally attended classes at University of Southern Mississippi and Slidell Vocational School. She began her career as Administrative Assistant to the Chancellor at the Louisiana Technical College at the Slidell campus and relocated to the Sullivan campus after Hurricane Katrina. She retired from the Northshore Technical Community College at the age of 78. Sally was active in her community, serving on various church committees and volunteering in the food and clothing pantry. She also enjoyed attending services regularly at her local church, First Baptist Church of Slidell. Sally will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A funeral service will begin in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Sally will be laid to rest in Lumberton City Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations be made to the First Baptist Church Food and Clothing Pantry or Hospice House at P.O. John “Jack” Moore, age 76, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
Born in New Orleans, he was a lifelong resident of the Pearl River, Slidell and Picayune areas who was known as a “jack of all trades.” He was a licensed pilot, architectural draftsman, homebuilder, roofing consultant and former employee of NASA.
He formed J. Moore Transporters and traveled to many states, while also having a love for Hot Rods and drag racing.
Norman Joseph Francioni, age 95, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023.
A native of New Orleans, he attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and then enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17, serving in World War II aboard the USS Sangamon in the Pacific Theater.
He was employed by Tenneco Oil Refinery and retired after 28 years of service. He also served with the Northshore Volunteer Fire Department, and volunteered with Fire District #1.
He loved playing golf, fishing and carpentry, and was an usher at Our Lady of Lourdes in Slidell for many years.
Bennie Ray “Ben” Ferrell, Jr., age 69, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023.
Born in Biloxi, MS, he graduated from Bay High School and Pearl River Junior College, where he played football.
He earned a mechanical engineering degree from Kennedy-Western University and was employed by Lockheed Martin for over 45 years, where he retired as senior manager for the external tank program.
John Pennino, age 95, of Lacombe, LA, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
Born in New Orleans, he was a World War II veteran who served with the Navy, and later retired after 30 years with the New Orleans Police Department.
He organized the Charity Hospital Security Police for 11 more years and taught firearms as a member of the NOPD shooting team.
Constance “Connee” Estelle Lehrmann Molay, age 75, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
A native of New Orleans, she graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School and had a long career as an EMT before earning a degree as an LPN at the age of 49.
She loved driving, especially in the ’66 Chevy Corvair given to her as a graduation present.
Barbara “Bonnie” Sweney Argeanton, age 76, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023.
A native of Derry, PA, she was a resident of Slidell for the past 43 years.
She was a stay-at-home mom and was active at her children’s schools, until she went to work as a secretary. She was a parishioner of St. Luke Catholic Church and loved LSU football, the Saints, the Chicago Cubs and reading.

Michael Alan Watkins, age 79, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
A native of New Orleans, he graduated from St. Aloysius High School in 1961 and attended Tulane and Delgado.
He served in the U.S. Navy and later had a career as an accountant, employed with Wm. F. Surgi Equipment Co., Cabildo Construction and the Slidell Sentry Newspaper.
He enjoyed gardening, traveling, U.S. history and fishing.
Greg Walter Simmons, age 56, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023.
A native of New Orleans, he was a plumber by trade and enjoyed fishing and jet skiing.
