CATHERINE JANE MULLINS SANDIFER

The Lord sweetly and peacefully called home Catherine Jane Mullins Sandifer, of Slidell, Louisiana, on Thursday, November 2, 2023. She was a young 90 years of age.
Catherine is a native of Prentiss, Mississippi; born on March 10, 1933, to her loving parents, the late Dan Lee Mullins Sr. and Iris Isabel Lawrence Mullins, both of Lawrence County, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by five siblings, Isabel Bright, Ada McCarty, Dan Mullins Jr., L.M. Mullins, and Ray Mullins, and survived by one brother, Frank Mullins.
The beloved wife of 67 years to the late Robert “Bob” Lynn Sandifer, Catherine is also the cherished mother of Lisa Gayle Fairley (Wayne), Robert Lee Sandifer (Sharon), and the late Karen Lynn Fisk (Steve). She is the adored Mimi to five grandchildren, Stephen Paul Fisk Jr. (Hera), Jessica Lynn Molinari, Joshua James Fisk (Julie), Michael Allen Fairley (Brianne), and Sarah Lynn Woodson (Tom), and four great-grandchildren Aliza Jane Fisk, Oliver James Fisk, Miles Anderson Fairley, and Chloe Ozavize Omeiza.
Graduating from the Mississippi State College for Women with a degree in Home Economics, Catherine was a loving and dedicated homemaker. She was very involved with her church and served at First Baptist Church of Slidell. Catherine was an avid member of the Christian Women’s Club, the Sunday School Program, and the Church Choir. She led the Children’s Choir as director, participated in sewing activities, and was always a dynamic participant in many church events.
Catherine will truly be missed and her memory will be treasured by her family and all that knew and loved her. To put it simply, Catherine was a joy. She was a consummate southern lady and hostess. Beautiful aspects of Catherine’s spirit were that she was always loving and kind. She was always ready to pray with family and friends in times of need or just to pray to give thanks for all the good things the Lord presented to her and to others in her life. Her sweet spirit taught many about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and through her life’s testimony, Catherine taught others how to love and care more deeply.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. at First Baptist Church in Slidell. A funeral service will begin at noon. Catherine will be lovingly laid to rest at a private graveside service on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in Whitesand Baptist Church Cemetery in Prentiss, Mississippi. BESSIE ELOISE TURNER

Bessie Eloise Turner
A dear, sweet, loving, and dainty mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, and reunited with the love of her life, Edward Levi Turner, Sr. on November 3, 2023.
Eloise was always kind and welcoming with a warm heart that would not be denied by anyone. She was the cream of the crop when it came to southern hospitality.
As a retired Federal Employee of USDA, she spent her later years giving care and comfort to numerous family members during their times of need.
In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting anything from baby booties to cuddly blankets and throws to generously share with anyone.
Eloise is additionally preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Daisy Mae; and brothers, Allen, Leo, and Thurman Miller. She is survived by her sons, Eddie Turner and Glenn (Pary) Turner; daughter, Teresa “Terry” Bridges (Roger); grandchildren, Tray Nobles (Becca), Trinny Cannon (Patrick), Tripp Bridges (Renee), Brittany Boos (Chad), Trissy Allain (Brandon), Zachary Turner, Robbie (Heidi) and Sean Dowell, Chris Bolts (Lauren), Shannon Turner (Johnathan), and Katie Maras (Brandon); 30 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bennie (Linda) and Bobby (Carolyn) Miller; a host of nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Bethel Baptist Church with Bro. Marvin Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.

David Brian Gilliam, age 64, of Pearl River, LA, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2023.
A native of Shreveport, he served in the U.S. Army and later worked as an air conditioning technician.
He was an antique enthusiast in his spare time.

Charles Herbert Neuman, age 86, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
Born in Los Angeles, CA, he was an alumnus of CalTech and the University of Illinois who lived in Southern California where he worked as a senior research physicist at Chevron.
He lived in Slidell for the past 40 years and was very involved in many groups, including the Rotary, the Bridge Club, tennis, square dancing, and as a parishioner at Aldersgate Methodist Church.

Barbara Diane Bennett Mauberret, age 85, of Lacombe, LA, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023.
A native of Baton Rouge, she graduated from Slidell High and LSU and worked with the Orleans Parish Tax Assessor’s Office.

Cynthia Millett Higley, age 86, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023.
Born in Rosebank, Staten Island, NY, she graduated from St. John Villa Academy who was an athlete playing softball, tennis, bowling, basketball and skiing.
She also played on an all-boys team and later began a career with the FBI.
She was active in the PTA, serving as president, and later pursued a career in advertising, working at the American Artist, Billboard, Teacher Magazines and the American Kennel Club. Later in life she moved to Slidell and acquired a small duty-free ship supply company.

Carroll Dwight Cole, Sr., age 84, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2023.
Born in Pampa, TX, he lived in Colorado and had a career with Martin Marietta before moving to the Michoud Space Center in New Orleans. He finished a 28-year career there, working on the Space Shuttle External Tank.

Billie Mae Pittman, age 87, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
Born in Montrose, LA, she graduated in 1954 from Slidell High and later from Southeastern, beginning a 30-year teaching career in St. Tammany Parish.
She was recognized as Teacher of the Year, and was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, and an active member of The Guardians of Slidell History.

Raymond Anthony Hughes, Jr., age 81, of Lacombe, LA, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from complications of heart failure.
Born in New Orleans, he was an ironworker with Local Union #58 for 38 years and retired from Boh Brothers.
He served in the U.S. Army as a medic and enjoyed camping, traveling, building, repairing things and a good crawfish boil.
