ANTHONY ‘TONY’ L. TORRANCE

Anthony “Tony” L. Torrance, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on November 30, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on October 19, 1948, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Tony’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and service. He was predeceased by his parents, Loretta C. Torrance and John L. Torrance, as well as his brothers, Mark E. Torrance and Curt T. Torrance.
Tony grew up in Baton Rouge, LA, where he attended Istrouma High School, graduating with the Class of 1966.
His pursuit of knowledge led him to Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, where he furthered his education. Tony’s academic journey laid the foundation for a career dedicated to helping others, a commitment that would define much of his life.
Tony served the community through his work at Southeast Mental Hospital in Mandeville, LA, where he retired after a long and fulfilling career. His colleagues remember him as a man of great empathy and kindness, always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand to those in need.
Tony’s life was rich with love and laughter, shared with his beloved wife of 31 years, Pamela Sue Aiken, who predeceased him. Together, they built a family that was his pride and joy.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori Snead; his son, John Anthony Torrance; and his stepson, John Edward Aiken (Iris Celebi Aiken). He also leaves behind his sister, Mary Cynthia Torrance Rabalais and a host of extended family members and friends.
Tony was an avid fisherman, finding peace and solitude in the gentle lapping of the waves against the hull of his boat. His garden was a place of quiet reflection and beauty, where he cultivated not only plants but also deep thoughts and a connection to the earth.
Those who knew Tony will fondly recall his love for his dog, Baxter, who was a constant companion and source of joy in his life. Baxter, like all who were close to Tony, benefited from his boundless love and affection.
Tony will be laid to rest in Audubon Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a private service. Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.AuduobnFuneralHome.com
