Upon returning to civilian life, Bob embarked on a successful career with South Central Bell, where he was known for his strong work ethic and amiable nature. His entrepreneurial spirit later led him to become the owner of Maggio’s Import Auto Repair, a business that not only served the community but also reflected his passion for precision and excellence.
Bob’s interests and hobbies were as diverse as his skills. He was an active member of SCCA and the Z Club, where he shared his love for classic and performance cars with fellow enthusiasts. His need for speed and adventure also found a home with the Gulf Coast Offshore Powerboat Club, where he enjoyed the thrill of the open water and the camaraderie of his fellow boaters.
A man of many passions, Bob also embraced the festive spirit of his native New Orleans as a member of the Krewe of Bilge Carnival group. He was also a proud member of the Mystic Krewe of the Seahorse, where he loved participating in the annual Pirate Day in the Bay celebration. Another of his other passions was dancing, and he was a member of a local Zydeco Dance Club. His involvement in these associations was not just about personal enjoyment; it was about building community and creating joy for others. One passion he took enormous pride in was volunteering at the WW II Museum, where he was instrumental in rebuilding the Packard 4M-2500 engine on the PT-305 vessel.
Bob’s legacy is carried on by his loving sisters, Joan M. Inge (George) and Carol M. Freihofer. He was a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews, Jennifer F. Steer (Keith), Cynthia I.
